Just formed at the beginning of 2006, Mythical records already holds a prominent place in the underground electronica, experimental classical music, and ambient music scenes. The label was formed by a group of 3 professionally trained, experimental classical musicians who studied together at the Juilliard school of music in New york city. Upon graduation we began to notice vile disparities between the respect and attention that classical music labels, promoters, and managers gave to their artists and the degree of shelter given to artists in the electro-acoustic music industries. While the classical world is built upon lifelong relationships and artist development, Many of the larger labels and distributers in the electronic music scenes seem to be dominated by a more trend oriented approach "singles" based thinking. Not career based thinking. With this insight and a powerful addiction to progressive music styles, we decided to launch a record label of our own which would give experimental electronic music composers the attention, development, leadership, and love which so permeates the classical music world. This is just the beginning of our story and we hope to welcome you into the fold. Our artists are not fads, nor commodities. We strive to release material you will be in love with for the rest of your life, no just this week. We hope to garden a fountain of inspiration and enlightenment.
